Well-marked by new oak, this red delivers spicy cherry, raspberry, boysenberry and floral aromas and flavors. Turns sleek and elegant by the finish, with vibrant acidity and fine harmony. Though balanced, this will need some time to knit together. Best from 2028 through 2043. — B.S.

(90-92 points) The 2022 Beaune Clos de Roi 1er Cru was picked on the first day in the morning of the harvest. It offers open-knit red berry fruit and light incense aromas, quite delineated and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins on the entry, and gentle grip with a touch of espresso on the finish. A charming Clos du Roi that will require three or four years in bottle. - Neal Martin
