(90-92 points) The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes contains around 60% whole bunches this year and was raised in 50% new oak. At the moment, the wood feels a little present on the aromatics, though that will be subsumed with bottle age. There’s good fruit intensity: black cherries, bilberry and light raspberry scents. The medium-bodied palate has slightly grainy tannins on the entry, moderate depth, and a dab of licorice, lending a little complexity toward the finish. Somehow, I am drawn as much to the Village Cru this year. - Neal Martin
