(91-94 points) Once again there is a highly attractive freshness to the bright, airy and cool aromas of essence of red cherry, anise, violet and rose petal. Like the Murgers, the middleweight flavors are not especially dense but possess a lilting and silky mouthfeel that is wonderfully appealing before terminating in a dusty, stony, moderately austere and sneaky long finale that doesn't lack for aging potential. This is not only quite good but also quite classy.

All the grapes for this cuvée are still destemmed: 'I'm a classic guy,' according to winemaker Charles van Canneyt. His Charmes is produced from two parcels that total 0.21 hectares. He extracts carefully, using a mixture of punching down and pumping over before ageing in cask (primarily used). The result is lighter than some from this vineyard, with a supple, elegant texture and perfumed cherry fruit aromas that are very pleasant. This wine excels in both quality and Chambolle typicity.

(91-94 points) Mid crimson ruby. Quite sensual on the nose, with light youthful bitters on the palate, while the fruit profile is raspberry more than other red berries. Decent density here, and fair persistence but not quite the same class as the Nuits-St-Georges Murgers.

(93-94 points) The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes is a beauty, bursting with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, supple and sensual, with a deep core of pure, vibrant fruit framed by bright acids and supple tannins, it concludes with a saline finish.- WK
