(96-98 points) I picked up some whole bunches on the nose and for this wine only Maxime used 10%, to fill the tank. It does give an extra nuance to the nose, even more perfumed. I love the perfect balance of red fruit with some blacker notes, and the slightly saline finish which probably also comes from the whole bunch. (92-94 points) A beautifully floral-suffused nose also freely reveals its ultra-spicy aromas of clove, star anise, dark pinot fruit and tangerine peel scents. There is even better mid-palate density if not nearly the same minerality to the slightly bigger-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract on the impressively long, balanced and youthfully austere finish where the only reproach is a touch of backend warmth. Good stuff and built-to-age.

(92-94 points) The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru includes around 20% whole bunches this vintage and matured in 50% new oak (two barrels). The opulent bouquet retains composure: layers of blackcurrant, bilberry and candied orange peel. It is rather seductive as it opens in the glass, gaining more and more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins. This is more towards the black side of the fruit spectrum; it is perhaps not the paradigm of Pinoté, though it does feel tender and long on the finish. Very fine. - By Neal Martin on November 2023
