(92-94 points) The 2022 Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru comes from an acquisition of grapes since the original parcel was taken back by Charles Ballot's cousin, Armand Heitz of Domaine Heitz-Lochardet. He buys the fruit back from him, so it is essentially the same wine, a kind of keep-it-in-the-family-métayage. The attractive bouquet is quite floral, with iris flowers infusing the dark berry fruit and hints of graphite and loam. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit and fine acidity, full of tension with more edge and vitality than the Charmots. Excellent. - By Neal Martin on November 2023

Once again the nose of red and dark raspberry, plum and spice nuances is exuberantly fresh. The super-sleek, chiseled and mineral-driven flavors possess a finer mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the beautifully textured, long and well-balanced finale. As it always is at its finest, this is a Pézerolles of finesse.
