The 2022 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo opens in the glass with a darkly floral blend of wilted violets and dried blackberries. This is soothingly round and silken in feel with ripe red and black fruits that sweep across a stream of fresh acidity. Lavender traces form toward the close. It finishes with admirable length and concentration, leaving echoes of licorice and spice over a bed of fine-grained tannins. -- Eric Guido
