jebdunnuck.com, May 2023

(95-97 points) Possibly even better, and a remarkable white in the vintage, the 2022 Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes reveals a vivid gold hue as well as an already complex bouquet of bright citrus, caramelized limes...

Vinous, May 2023

(92-94 points) The 2022 Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes Blanc Sec debuted two years earlier and comes from oldest vines in the best terroirs,. It has a lovely bouquet with orchard fruit, honeysuckle and melted wax aromas. The...

janeanson.com, April 2023

Coming from old vines between 45 and 60 years old that are likely to have resisted the heat of the vintage better, this has both complexity and depth of flavour, with juicy white pear, saffron and mandarin zest. Still a...

The Wine Independent, May 2023

(91-93 points) The 2022 Vieilles Vignes Grand Vin Blanc Sec, 55% Semillon and 45% Sauvignon Blanc, rolls out with expressive notions of Golden Delicious apples, Bosc pears, and green guava, plus wafts of sea spray and...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2023

Sweet juicy lemons, white peach, spice, mango, and honeysuckle on the nose get this started. But it is on the palate, with its sweet citrus, orange pith, and touch of honey where the wine shows its best. The wine blends...

Wine Spectator, April 2024

This plump white offers lively energy encased in a mix of persimmon, white peach, lemon curd and brioche notes, which are offset nicely by a subtle zing of quinine. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2026. - JM

This Sauternes estate originally took the name Suduiraut in 1580, upon the marriage of Nicole d’Allard to Leonard de Suduiraut. After being plundered and burned down during the Fronde insurrection, in the 17th century it was rebuilt and renamed Cru du Roy by a nephew of the Suduiraut family, who planted magnificent formal gardens designed by Le Notre, King Louis XIV’s renowned gardener. The estate was designated Premier Cru status in the 1855 Classification.

AXA Millesimes acquired Suduiraut in 1992 with the aim of preserving and perpetuating the estate’s remarkable tradition of vineyard management and winemaking. 92 hectares of vineyard are planted in sandy, gravelly soil superbly suited to Semillon and Sauvignon grapes. Semillon, which represents 90% of the Suduiraut vineyard’s vine population, is the preferred variety for Sauternes. Its very thin skin is particularly sensitive to the Botrytis Cinerea that gives rise to noble rot, which in turn results in a wine which is concentrated both in sweetness and aroma. The blend is then rounded off with the addition of about 10% Sauvignon Blanc.

The vines’ age (a majority of them are over 30 years old) is a guarantee of exceptional quality, giving well-nourished and more concentrated grapes.
