This cuvée is pure Semillon, and the residual sugar is 190 g/l in this vintage. A rich, smoky-gold hue in the glass, the nose is similarly smoky and harmonious, with a huge intensity of dried citrus and tropical fruits, all orange, mango and coconut, a substantial and cohesive build. Despite this, as well as the huge and voluptuous texture on the palate, there is a sense of freshness here, the creamed weight of white peach, mango, melon and white chalk countered by a white pepper energy and bright central acidity. Beautifully bitter in the finish, this is a towering collection of components at the moment, but given time it will be a brilliant Sauternes. Leave alone for ten or twenty years. Very impressive, bright and fresh. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 13.4%. - Chris Kissack
