Highly floral with crayon, wet stone, iron and blue fruit aromas. Tense and energetic, with reverberating acidity and wild vibrancy. Bright strawberry, sour cherry and ripe blackcurrant create a thrilling contrast. The core has tension yet maintains elegance and finesse, and a hint of spice and cooling mint lingers, keeping everything fresh. Gorgeous limestone focus, with liquorice bud, raspberry leaf, and clear verticality just in the aromatics. Pulses of electricity, blueberry and steel, mouthwatering and salivating, finessed tannins, a ton of lift, exciting to see how this ages. A wine that begs you to geek out, and you are only too happy to do so. Harvest 9 and 22 September, vines on 3.6ha of limestone plateau (the Lafleur team now has 15ha of land there, with more planted last year so now 5.2ha planted, waiting for production in 2027). 33% new oak for ageing.

The 2022 Les Perrières De Lafleur is stunning stuff, with another level of purity and precision. Darker cherries, blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and crushed stone notes define this sensational 2022. It's medium to full-bodied, has a focused, layered, elegant mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. It brings another level of purity, precision, and elegance over the Grand Village and is going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and have two decades of prime drinking.

(93-95 points) Flowers, black raspberries, red plums, cherries, chocolate and black raspberries are all over the place. The medium-bodied wine has a strong sense of minerality you can taste and feel on the mid-palate and in the long, perfectly-ripe, fruit-filled finish. The fruits taste as if they were blended with crushed stones, giving you lift, complexity and vibrancy in the elegant finish. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Franc with 50% Merlot. The 2022 Les Perrières de Lafleur is the broadest, most unctuous rendition of this wine to date, but it retains its taut, minerally identity for all that. Offering up aromas of mulberries, violets and pen ink, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and incisive, with terrific depth and persistence. As readers will remember, Les Perrières derives from parcels situated on the higher-altitude plateau of Fronsac, planted with vine material from Château Lafleur. - William Kelley

This is linear, with racy and refined tannins that take you very long, with energy at the end. Medium-bodied and very polished with a racy finish. Subtle brine and berry character at the end. Hint of citrus rind, too. Lots of vibe to this. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.

The 2022 Les Perrières is heady and explosive right out of the gate. Inky dark fruit, leather, incense, grilled herbs, tobacco and espresso saturate the palate. The blend of equal parts Merlot and Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) offers tons of complexity. Graphite, crushed rocks, menthol and sage all take shape in the glass. In 2022, vintage speaks a bit stronger than site, but this is still outstanding. Beams of tannin punctuate the persistent finish. Les Perrières is essentially genetic material from Lafleur planted in Fronsac. Its quality and price make Les Perrières a major sleeper and the wine to buy in this range from the Guinaudeau family. -- Antonio Galloni

This vintage of Les Perrières from the Guinaudeau family is a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with an élevage in one-third new oak, the other two-thirds in second-fill barrels. A freshly opened sample bottle here, unlike the other Guinaudeau wines, as the first bottle of this was corked, so I came back to this one again at the end of the visit, A very pure, crushed berry and bramble fruits, with layers of dark chocolate and toast, with time more floral, iris and violet notes. The palate is no less focused than the nose, with a fresh layer of red cherry, leathery oak and a structure of dry and tight tannins, with fresh acidity. Lovely sappy quality to the finish here, a touch juicy and mouth-watering, but with a firm grip of tannins. The alcohol is 15% on the label, the same on analysis, but unlike Grand Village this does not show so strongly. - Chris Kissack
