The bright sliver/yellow-hued 2022 Chardonnay Beyond The Threshold is sourced from the Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap and tends to have brighter acidity compared to the Cuvee Number Five. In the glass, it’s zesty and fresh out of the gate, with focused notes of lemon verbena, green apple, flint, crushed stone, and lime blossoms. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lovely linear feel, with delicious concentration and purity as well as a long finish, and it’s going to have a wide window for enjoyment 2024-2034.

The 2022 Chardonnay Beyond the Threshold is deeply fruited, powerful and broad, without any semblance of excess. Incredibly driven and vibrant, there’s an unmistakable line of mineral tension within. White smoke, peach, oyster shell and pineapple combine in a unique, engaging bouquet. Layers and layers of complexity are at play here, finishing with nerve, focus and persistence. This is already so generous, but it will surely age gracefully. A 16-month stay in 75% new French oak worked wonderfully. An impressively structured, tensile and lively wine that's laced with minerals, citrus acidity and even a touch of tannin. Baking spices, vanilla bean, citrus zest and lemon meringue linger on the palate. Full-bodied and tangy with acidity, yet it has good breadth and depth of flavor and a lingering finish. The 2022 Chardonnay Beyond the Threshold was matured for 16 months in 75% new French oak. Initial flinty tones give way to scents of apricot, jasmine, allspice and panna cotta. The medium-bodied palate offers expansive, spicy fruit foiled by energetic acidity, and it has a long, nuanced finish. 100 cases were made. -EB
