(93+ points) The 2022 Forster Ungeheuer Riesling GG opens with a deep, fine but intense bouquet of ripe fruits intertwined with iodine notes that add complexity and richness and reduces the "just fruitiness" impressively. This Ungeheuer is already salivating on the nose. Savory, fresh and astringent at this early stage, with fine acidity and coolish, elegant fruit, this is a young and challenging Riesling with power and drying edges on the pretty phenolic finish. Apparently, this Ungeheuer (literally: monster) still has not found its balance, in contrast to the nasal impression. Keep it a few years before opening it. It's rich, long, salivating and saline and provided with refreshing lime bitters. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2024. - Stephan Reinhardt
