The 2022 Deidesheimer Hohenmorgen Riesling GG opens with a deep, intense and aromatic bouquet of ripe and juicy stone fruits intermingled with coolish stony notes and a certain salinity. Elegant and fresh on the palate, with lively acidity, this tight and full-bodied Hohenmorgen reveals a subtle richness uplifted by its serious mineral structure and salinity that takes it to a long, complex and stimulating finish, even at this early stage. It's wonderfully bitter and astringent on the finish due to lemon-rind flavors and this highly stimulating grip. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2024. - Stephan Reinhardt

The 2022 Riesling Deidensheimer Hohenmorgen Grosses Gewächs is from a three-hectare site. The soils are a mix of Triassic sandstone, basalt and loamy loess. A sunny note of tart but ripe yellow apple opens shyly on the nose. The palate again focuses on that salty yeast character, still hiding its fruit but expressing slenderness and lightness.
