he Drouhin family always makes an exceptional example of les Amoureuses, but it is so nice to see the inherent elegant of the vintage of 2021 dovetail so perfectly with the personality of this priceless terroir. The wine delivers a celestial aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, plums, mustard seed, a gorgeous base of chalky soil tones, a nice touch of sweet stems, woodsmoke, gamebird, cedar and a lovely topnote of rose petals. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully complex, with a great core of fruit, marvelous soil signature, suave, fine-grained tannins and a long, tangy and very complex finish.

(93-95 points) The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru blossoms in the glass: black cherries, blueberry, hints of date and pressed flowers and quite exuberant. It gains intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firmer tannins than the aromatics imply, solid and quite structured with decent depth on the finish. Whereas the bouquet is open, the palate politely invites you to be patient. Good potential.

(92-94 points) Dense dark colour, with a really welcoming succulent Amoureuses nose, the fruit swells and fills the palate. Lower acidity here, so will be open for business early and the oak is showing. But lovely, as Amoureuses should be. Drink from 2025-2033.

Drouhin’s Amoureuses has always been among the jewels of the domaine-owned properties. The house owns no less than four different parcels spread throughout the various sectors of the vineyard, with an average vine age of nearly fifty years. The 2021 vintage is seductively ripe for the vintage, with pronounced aromas of wild strawberry and brighter red currant fruit with copious floral overtones and a sweet, spicy character on the palate. The texture features significant density and a velvety tannic structure that carries the wine to a harmonious finish. The grapes are mostly destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask.
