This is polished and fragrant, expressing notes of plums, mulberries, chocolate, nutmeg and hazelnuts. Medium- to full-bodied, silky and elegant with creamy layers of dark fruit. Very fine tannins. Long and seamless. Try after 2026.

Smoked blackberries and ripe cherry fruit combine with green pepper, black pepper, roses and liquorice spice on the nose, the Cabernet Franc coming through in the aromatics. Devilishly sensual texture and depth of flavour on the palate, it doesn't shout but makes its presence known straight away affirming that it has power but also poise. It's well framed, the tannins so velvety soft and the fruit rich and concentrated - direct and driven - yet with a cool, salty mineral touch that lingers long on the finish. There is an intensity here but at the same time an elegance to the fruit presentation and the finish is elongated. It's charming and will gain further in weight and density over ageing.

One of my favorite châteaux, the 2021 Château Hosanna is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc from 4.5 hectares of blue clay soils in the heart of Pomerol. Harvest between September 24 and October 6, it has a vivid opaque purple hue to go with beautiful black and blue fruits, iron, graphite, and damp earth-like aromas and flavors. It's rich, medium-bodied, and has good concentration and ripe yet building tannins. This quintessential Pomerol deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will shine over the following 15-20 years.

Spicy black plums, chocolate, licorice, espresso, chocolate, and cherry blossoms create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is equally creamy, and fresh, allowing allowing its display of chocolate-covered black cherries, espresso beans, black plums, blackberries, spices and mint shine. The long, supple, concentrated, creamy finish hits the spot. Yields were low this year at only 28 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2026-2050.

The 2021 Hosanna offers a solid showing in bottle, mingling aromas of cassis and minty blueberries with notions of baking chocolate, licorice and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's comparatively rich for the vintage, with sweet, powdery tannins and a spicy finish. - William Kelley

The 2021 Hosanna is certainly one of the stronger efforts in Pomerol in this vintage. The bouquet comes racing out with ebullient black fruit that verges on too opulent (like I found some of the early vintages of Hosanna). Quite peppery and almost feral, touches of menthol come through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, showing plush black fruit laced with white pepper, thyme and graphite, the latter especially evident on the aftertaste. It does settle in the glass after 5 minutes—an impressive Pomerol considering the vintage. -- Neal Martin

Solidly built, this has an abundant but fine-grained structure, which supports a core of steeped plum, sweet bay, red and black tea and singed sandalwood notes. The long finish offers a lingering mineral note and savory echo. Terrific effort for the vintage. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2038. — J.M.

This remains tight in its tannic constuction even after the softening impact of barrel ageing, and a slight dip in the mid palate shows the imprint of the vintage, but there is also a delcious textural slate character, and the whole thing feels sculpted, rising through the palate, with an edge of smoked caramel sweeetness alongside the brambled berry fruits. Harvest September 24 to October 6.
