(94-97 points) Not really any deeper in colour, but the bouquet brings a smile to the face. There is a gorgeous succulent warmth to this, a red fruit which is ripe enough and brilliantly long. I have fallen in love with Les Amoureuses again! Drink from 2026-2035.

The 2021 les Amoureuses from Domaine Mugnier is another gorgeous wine. The bouquet is all musky, red fruity bliss, offering up a constellation of cherries, strawberries, blood orange, roses, chalky minerality, woodsmoke, a dollop of fresh herb tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, silky and complex, with a sappy core of fruit, gorgeous soil inflection, tangy acids, buried, seamless tannins and impeccable balance on the long, complex and stunningly beautiful finish.

(93-95 points)The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses wafts from the glass with scents of sweet smoky berries mingled with notions of orange zest, peonies, spices and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, with a broad and satiny attack that segues into a fleshy core of fruit, it's a perfumed, sensual wine animated by lively acids and concluding with a saline finish. This is a wine that will delight readers who love the Burgundy of yesteryear. -WK

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has an open nose with macerated red cherries, raspberry and rose petals, though it does not quite have the complexity and intensity of de Vogüé's Amoureuses. There is some reduction in situ, though it does not feel fixed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. Smooth and silky in texture, touches of dried blood infuse the dark red fruit with a slightly savoury peppercorn-tinged finish. Plenty of character in this wine; it will benefit from two or three years more in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. -- Neal Martin

A marvel of intensity without weight, this lovely charming wine has bright black cherry fruit, fresh floral aromas, and a texture that is pleasantly rich but not at all heavy. The wine is made from just over a half-hectare of old vines planted in the ‘60s in the thin red clay Amoureuses soil. The grapes were destemmed and given a cold soak before fermentation and the wine is now ageing in cask. This marvelously balanced wine should age effortlessly for decades. (Drink between 2025-2050)

A more overtly spiced nose exhibits notes of anise, exotic green tea and soy that add breadth to the exceptionally pretty essence of red pinot fruit scents. There is again excellent volume to the beautifully textured, even silky, flavors that exude an almost pungent minerality on the moderately austere, linear, and serious finale that just goes on and on. This lacy, highly seductive and crystalline effort is the epitome of class in a glass.
