(94-96 points) Barrel Sample. All the elements are showing well in this wine from the southern end of Margaux. It's an estate that is showing great promise and the wine brings together great tannins and richly delineated black fruits. It will age well. ROGER VOSS

Tasted a few times recently, and once again this stands out as being at classified level in Margaux, in its depth, careful and confident extraction, giving plenty of dark chocolate alongside cassis, bilberry and blackberry fruit, savoury, spiced, thoroughly enjoyable. Ripe and rich black fruits on the nose, smells heady and fully aromatic in a fruit-forward way, with blackcurrants, berries and sweet Ribena edges. Juicy and supple, nicely lively in the mouth, high acidity, with quite present tannins that are a little bit chalky and enjoyably bitter. Lovely viscous texture at first, with plenty of acidity and succulence, feels extremely youthful and on the edgy side right now, but is rounded, forward and full in body. It's on the richer, riper side and a has a touch of sweet jamminess to it alongside spiced nuance and some terroir influence via the cool, minty salinity. Extremely likeable and one to watch.

The complex nose opens with espresso, spice, smoke, mint leaves and an array of red pit fruits. The palate experience is even better with its layers of creamy, fresh, sweet, luscious fruits and silky tannins and touch of chocolate and spice that kicks in at the end of the long finish. Give this a year or two in the cellar and enjoy it over the following 2 decades. Siran is the best deal in high quality wine in the Margaux appellation today. Drink from 2024-2050. (93 + points) Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Siran swans out with gregarious notions of black and red cherries, black raspberries, and mulberries, plus touches of dried lavender, unsmoked cigars, and juniper. The medium-bodied palate is alluringly plush and refreshing, with bags of perfumed red and black fruit and a soft-spoken yet lingering finish. While irresistible to drink now, this impressive beauty should age wonderfully (Siran usually does), so don't be afraid to hide away a few bottles for 25 years+.

Lots of red and blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and leafy tobacco notes all emerge from the 2020 Château Siran, a medium-bodied, elegant, incredibly pretty and finesse-driven Margaux. It shows the fresher, elegant style of the vintage and has remarkable purity, fine tannins, and a great finish.

(90-92 points) Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Siran features notes of blackcurrant jelly, ripe redcurrants and raspberry leaves, plus suggestions of wild sage, tar and underbrush, with a waft of wild mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, delivering approachable, soft tannins and plenty of red berry layers, finishing earthy.

The 2020 Siran has a lovely nose, very complex for its class, with mineral-driven black fruit and impressive delineation and focus. There is just a little reduction at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, fine balance and a grippy, classically styled, cedar-tinged finish. Siran continues its fine run of form. A ripe but understated style, with alluring notes of black tea and cedar shavings infusing a core of gently mulled black cherry and plum fruit. The sneaky long finish is silky and refined. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2036.   – JM
