(91-94 points) A markedly sauvage-inflected nose is comprised by notes of newly turned earth, red and black currant and a whiff of underbrush. The intense and detailed big-bodied flavors exude a subtle salinity on the complex, serious and moderately austere finish that is shaped by palate coating tannins. I would recommend not touching a bottle of this for at least 10 years as it's very much built-to-age.

(91-94 points) Just as dark in colour but there is more life in the nose, dark fruits but still more in the red register than black. Just spent a mite longer in the oven than is ideal. Ripe bright cheerful cherry notes and a long aftertaste. Enough juice here for this to work.

After tasting the quite powerfully-built 2020 Perrières, I was expecting an even bigger bruiser in the 2020 Pruliers, but this wine is actually quite svelte in personality out of cask and is really a beautiful wine in the making. The excellent aromatic constellation reveals scents of sappy dark berries and black cherries, raw cocoa, spit-roasted venison, a lovely base of dark soil tones, a nice touch of new oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with lovely focus and backend mineral drive, ripe, seamless tannins and a very long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. Great juice.

(92 - 94+ points) The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers is showing especially well, soaring from the glass with notes of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, raw cocoa and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, bright and vibrant, with lively acids and a deep core of concentrated fruit, it's framed by ripe, powdery tannins and concludes with a long, penetrating finish.- WK

(90-92 points) The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers ler Cru showed just a little sur-maturite on the nose with faint touches of prune inflecting the black cherry/cassis fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and shows a little more control and elegance than the nose, nicely poised with a slightly grainy-textured finish. Moderate length. • By Neal Martin on November 2021
