(92 - 94 points) The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes (Domaine Gagey) unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet berries and plums mingled with hints of orange rind and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, it's lively, deep and concentrated, with ample reserves of ripe, powdery tannin and a long, resonant finish.

(90-93 points) More reserved though still quite pretty aromas of various red berries, spice and a floral top note complement well the bigger-bodied and more powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess a suave and rounded mid-palate that contrasts with the bitter pit fruit-inflected, robust and very firm finale. This is classic Baudes.

A typical Chambolle, perfumed with generous, bright raspberry fruit and some lovely spice notes. The texture is light and fresh, yet there is enough body to make the round, supple finish linger on the palate. Just below Bonnes-Mares, Les Baudes is among the top rank of premier crus in Chambolle. The 0.27ha parcel farmed by Jadot is the property of Domaine Gagey. The grapes were destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask (35% new). (Drink between 2025-2040)

(90-92 points) Fine deep crimson colour, the thicker style of a Morey-side Chambolle, both on the nose and the palate. Quite firm tannins, a fair acidity and a mixed dark fruit which returns behind. Sound, though some other wines offer more joy.

(90-92 points) The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes ler Cru is much more backward compared to the Feusselottes, touches of pencil box and loam infusing the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy, quite sweet and pastille-like on the finish that just misses the backbone of other Premier Crus.
