(91-94 points) A large cuvée of 18.5 barrels. Dense crimson purple. Solid and backward with an evident density. A burst of fruit concentration on the palate, dark red with just a hint of orange rind. Complex, light chocolate effect but feels like correct maturity, not too much. Well judged tannins and oaking.

The 2020 Pommard Jarollières 1er Cru has a refined bouquet with redcurrant, raspberry, tobacco and cedar, quite classic in style. The palate is well-balanced with good depth. There is more black fruit in the mix here, with fine acidity to counterbalance the structure and depth. There is no warmth of alcohol, but there is just a little toastiness on the finish. This is a charming, rustic Pommard. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. -- Neal Martin
