Bright purple, with clean dark berry fruit. This is one of the cleaner wines in a slightly disappointing opening Pommard flight, with a balanced layer of rich dark red fruit which is evenly spread across the palate. Tannins are refined and there is adequate acidity.

The 2020 Pommard Jarollières 1er Cru has a refined bouquet with redcurrant, raspberry, tobacco and cedar, quite classic in style. The palate is well-balanced with good depth. There is more black fruit in the mix here, with fine acidity to counterbalance the structure and depth. There is no warmth of alcohol, but there is just a little toastiness on the finish. This is a charming, rustic Pommard. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. -- Neal Martin
