The Domaine Harmand 2020 Vieilles Vignes bottling is another excellent young Gevrey in the making. The bouquet here is nicely ripe (but not overripe), bright and focused, as it offers up scents of cassis, black cherries, grilled meats, a fine base of black minerality, just a hint of anise, bonfire and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tangy, with a lovely sense of sappiness at the core, ripe, seamless tannins, lovely focus and balance and a long, very promising finish. Good juice, but perhaps just a touch riper in personality than the Clos Prieur this year.
