Philippe Harmand’s 2020 Champeaux is another excellent wine in the making. The bouquet delivers a fine range of black cherries, sweet dark berries, a nice touch of meatiness, a beautifully complex base of soil, bitter chocolate, cedar and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full, with a great core of fruit, lovely mineral drive and focus, ripe, fine-grained tannins and superb length and grip on the impeccably balanced finish. A beautiful bottle of Champeaux in the making.
