From the most iconic vineyard site in La Morra and one of the best crus in the denomination, the 2020 Rocche dell’Annunziata from Francesco Rinaldi & Figli is stunning, starting with its captivating aromas of wild rose, violet, camphor and spice. Loaded with finesse, it shows a great depth of flavors that include crushed raspberry, red cherry, cake spice and licorice wrapped up in enveloping, extremely refined tannins. A gorgeous wine.

This Barolo showcases a compelling array of dark, ripe fruits that have been gently warmed by the sun. Blackberries, black cherries, and plums dominate the nose and palate, revealing the wine's intense and concentrated character. The structure is remarkably firm, with tannins that provide a robust backbone to this powerful and assertive Barolo that demands attention and promises to reward patient cellaring. With fruit from La Morra, the Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2020 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata does not show the same level of intense focus that you see in the other wines. The aromas are wide-ranging and perhaps short on specifics. You get dark fruit, spice and earth. The alcohol content is registered at 15%. - Monica Larner

(92+ points) The 2020 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a soft, open-knit wine. Sweet macerated cherry, tobacco, spice, incense and dried herbs add layers of aromatic nuance. This is a rather stern, unyielding Barolo from this La Morra site, where wines tend to be a bit more sensual, but there's also good persistence through the finish.
