A seductive red highlighted by a silky texture and beautiful harmony, with flavors of black currant, cherry, incense and flowers. This is supported by refined tannins and acidity that leaves a lingering juicy, mineral finish. Best from 2025 through 2043. 40 cases imported.

A heady crimson purple. The bouquet has a concentration of a softer red berry fruit than most in this flight. This may be accessible earlier than most though the acidity adds a firmer touch to the finish. Maybe some stems as well, with some strawberry notes alongside the leaner cherry.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru has quite a generous bouquet. A little more warmth percolates through the dark cherry fruit, but I find more mineralité as it opens. It clams up a little in the glass, but I can see more personality and restraint developing. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins. Perhaps the fruit here is just a little too sweet for my liking, so the finish has a small shortfall in tension and comes across as a bit heady. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. -- Neal Martin
