Spicy char notes on the nose. In the mouth its full-bodied and ripe but not excessive, really mouthfilling and full of energy. Intense and concentrated with powerful tannins. It's fairly potent in alcohol for a 2020, but the overall effect is balance, freshness, purity and length. Domaine Lionnet is one of the unsung heroes of Cornas, and an organic estate.

(95+ points) The 2020 Cornas Pur Granit is brilliant stuff. Ripe black cherries, blueberries, scorched earth, smoked game, and iron are just some of its nuances, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, focused texture, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. This classic Cornas needs 3-5 years of bottle age and I suspect will still bring drinking spectacularly well in 15+ years.

Dark purple. Displays an array of mineral- and spice-accented dark fruit and floral scents, along with suggestions of olive, licorice and pipe tobacco. Densely packed blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors slowly flesh out and become spicier and more lively through the back half.
