Just bottled at the end of April. Made from the usual six plots. A pale lemon yellow. The nose has been knocked back a bit and is not yet showing much fruit. Then a little white fruit starts to emerge with some graphite, and a little bit of gunflint. Racy yet ripe with several layers of flavour and excellent length, the acidity perfectly wound in. On the assumption that the bouquet comes back as it should a little later on, after getting over the bottling, this will surely be a 5 star wine.

Pure and silky in texture, revealing lemon, apple, mineral and oak spice flavors. Seamless and balanced, with lively acidity guiding the lingering aftertaste of citrus, orchard fruit and spices. Drink now through 2030. 2,715 cases made, 543 cases imported.

Opening in the glass with notes of crisp white peach, green apple, freshly baked bread and white flowers, Leflaive's 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Village is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a fleshy core of fruit, racy acids and a long, saline finish. - WK
