The 2019 Meursault Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet with citrus fruit, popcorn, almonds and nicely integrated oak. It's potent, if maybe a bit too ostentatious for some. The palate is well-balanced, smooth in texture, almost creamy, with a countervailing thread of acidity. Lightly spiced and cohesive, the oak comes across prominently on the finish, although that should be enmeshed with time. Not bad, perhaps just missing a bit of grace. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2040) - Neal Martin
