Bright and floral on the nose with orange blossom to the vivid sliced cherry character. Medium body, with ultra-fine tannins that are supple and caressing. Gorgeous cooked peach pie and cherry aftertaste. Delicious to taste now, but better in 2028.

Castello di Brolio is the estate's flagship bottle, bringing together Sangiovese (the Sangiovese di Brolio clone, to be precise) from higher altitude sites near the castle, planted on the three main soil types found here: macigno (sandstone), galestro and alberese. This 2020 has a balsamic nose, accompanied in the mouth by a rich concentration of sapid, tangy red and black fruits and beautifully silky tannins. Structured enough to age well but soft and approachable enough to enjoy immediately, this is a great all-rounder. Labelled as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gaiole. (Drink between 2023-2042)

One of the estate's most important and successful bottles, the Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio is plump and rich with warm-vintage layers of blackberry, juicy cherry, spice and soft earth. It ages in tonneaux for 22 months, of which only 30% is new oak, yet that is more than enough to impart savory tones, soft tannins and rich textural support to this full-bodied Sangiovese. The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello Di Brolio pours a jeweled red hue with a hint of orange and is elegant in the glass, offering aromas of candied red cherries, red flowers, mint, and sweet forest herbs. Medium-bodied, it’s approachable and finely textured on the palate, with supple tannins, refreshing, evenly balanced acidity, and a lightly salty finish.
