Far too often overlooked, this village-level terroir in Puligny lies just downslope from Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. Raphael notes the soil is rocky red marl over hard slabs of limestone - very different from Meursault. The result has impressive concentration and density, with a velvety feel and remarkable length. The fruit is less forward than the village Meursault, but there is a subtle balance to the ripe apple and hawthorn notes that is endlessly appealing. This will be better with a couple of years of age and will ultimately last for twenty years.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseigneres has a beautifully defined bouquet with fine mineralite, a little more malic than the Meursault with "fizzing' energy. The palate has quite wonderful poise, a fine spicy entry and then a gradual build of intensity that is reminsicent of a Pucelles on the finish.
