The delicious and intense bigger-bodied flavors also possess evident minerality and focused power that seems to build from the mid-palate to the impressively lengthy finale where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. This is a big wine that should also age effortlessly for at least a decade and 15+ years would not be especially surprising.

(90-92 points) The 2019 Volnay Les Pitures 1er Cru is perhaps missing the same cohesion as the Les Caillerets or Taillepieds on the nose. There is an attractive marine/oyster shell influence at play, though it comes across a bit subdued at present.
