The 2018 Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Empreinte is superb. Rich, powerful and explosive, the 2018 bristles with energy from start to finish. Kirsch, dried flowers, mint, spice, incense and dried herbs soar across the palate. The Empreinte is a deep and wonderfully resonant Champagne in all of its dimensions. The 2018 Champagne Premier Cru Cumières Blanc de Noirs Empreinte Extra Brut is a more elegant and approachable wine in this vintage, pouring a bright copper/straw color and offering notes of fresh almond, fresh bread, white grapefruit, red fruit, and delicate flinty reduction that frames the nose. Made from 100% Pinot Noir from the best plots of Cumières and raised in oak with a minimum five years sur latte, it’s medium-bodied and has a creamy texture and a fine mousse with just a subtle salty spice. It is not the most obvious wine in the tasting, but it will offer a lot of refreshing enjoyment over the next 8-10 years. Drink 2025-2035.
