Ripe red cherries and plums with tobacco and spice notes - this smells hot and heady, forward and indulgent. Mouthwatering straight away - juicy with sucrosity hinting at the hot vintage. Slightly thick and plump in the mouth but tannins are also firmly textured giving bite and spiced wood elements on the tongue. The Cabernet stands out giving a medicinal herbal element and wide menthol finish that makes it feel cool and fresh, though clearly there is power there. Still quite young. I like the composition, the nuance of elements with power, structure and heft, but also the definition you get at the end reminding you it’s a serious wine. 76 IPT. 5.7% press wine. 21% production. I'm always shocked at the quality of the base Pauillac from this château, but I guess at this point I shouldn't be, given that it's outstanding in just about every vintage. The 2018 Le Pauillac De Château Latour has a medium to full-bodied, ripe, rounded, even sexy style as well as sunny aromatics of red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, and lead pencil shavings. It's balanced, concentrated, and incredibly satisfying.

This has a lovely feel, with a mix of graphite and velvet textures carrying dark plum, warmed cassis and cherry reduction notes along. Flashes of alder, licorice and warm earth peek in throughout. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032.

The 2018 Pauillac de Château Latour is composed of 56.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30.8% Merlot, and 12.3% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet‑purple in color, it needs a little coaxing to bring out notes of plum preserves, juicy blueberries, and chocolate‑covered cherries, followed by hints of licorice, Indian spices, garrigue, and clove oil. Medium‑ to full‑bodied, the palate bursts with seductive black and blue fruits, framed by plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long with a compelling lift of freshness.
