An open and harmonious red, with fine intensity to the cherry, wild strawberry, incense, spice and earth aromas and flavors. This is driven by lively acidity, with firm, civilized tannins underneath. Long finish, where the fruit and spice elements persist. Best from 2026 through 2043. 225 cases made, 40 cases imported.

Pierre Damoy has a half-hectare parcel of Chambertin, planted in 1973, at the northern limit of the appellation downslope from the Rousseau holdings. Damoy picked the gently sloping site with its marly soils fairly late to deliver a wine that has the substance of Chambertin, but also shows the silky finesse of the Clos de Bèze for which Damoy is well-known. This wine should age well and is certainly worth a look.
