(93-97 points) Really intense glowing fresh purple. This is super sumptuous from very old vines, swamps the back of the palate with its ripe dark raspberry character, even a little bit of spice. Much less structural acidity than Charmes-Chambertin. Lovely aftertaste

The 2018 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a very heavy reduction on the nose that suppresses the fruit at present. Returning after 10 minutes, that reduction has only slightly been dislodged (I try pouring between glasses to no avail.) The palate is actually promising. Balanced, focused and quite intense, you have to appreciate the acidic spine and vibrancy. Its crescendo and structure on the finish is worthy of a Grand Cru. I will keep the faith and trust that bottle age will serve it well - my score reflects my gut instinct. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

A dense, tightly wound red, with ample blackberry and black currant fruit, underlined by mineral and spice notes. Not showy, yet persistent and saturated with flavors that linger on the aftertaste. Best from 2024 through 2042. 52 cases imported. — BS
