A less expressive but more complex nose grudgingly reveals its notes of red currant, dark pinot, cassis, plum and wafting sauvage nuances. There is both better mid-palate volume and concentration along with a certain muscularity to the medium-bodied flavors that offer equally good depth on the ever-so-mildly drying finale that is quite robust. This seems to be quite ripe and thus my guess is that the dryness is due to the recent bottling and my rating implicitly assumes that it will dissipate once the SO2 addition is fully absorbed.
