A whiff of menthol can be found on the nicely layered aromas of violet, lilac, earth and red currant scents. The succulent and somewhat more refined middle weight flavors flash a discreet bead of minerality on the sneaky long finish that both tightens up yet fans out as it sits on the palate. There is an interesting contrast between the delicacy of the mid-palate and the moderately firm tannic backend.

Pézerolles is an earthy and iron rich site which keeps cool. This comes from a mix of 35 and 45 year old vines with 20% of the stems retained. Much darker colour here. Sweetly perfumed dark fruit with a hint of volatile, the minor type which often accompanies whole bunch this year. Real weight behind though, quite exciting as long as the volatile stays tame. Which I think it will because the finish is very classy and shows greater purity.
