This one I found more difficult en primeur - more austere than Les Argileuses, but as is often the case in a more limestone-dominant wine, it just needed a few years to unwind. Lovely now, very different from its sibling, and the two make an excellent pairing if you are interested in putting them together. Tons of salinity on the finish. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Les Rocheuses offers notes of baked blackberries, preserved plums and dried mulberries with touches of spice box, unsmoked cigars and potpourri. The full-bodied palate (15% alcohol) delivers rich, spicy black fruit preserves flavors with a racy backbone and chewy texture, finishing earthy. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
