(92-96 points) Immense dense purple, almost prune juice. Picked by the vigneron who picks late! 30% whole bunch, maybe saves the day. It is an immensely powerful wine in a very distinct late picked style. Not unbalanced but this is a different form of balance at 14.8%!

Extremely aromatic with strawberry, black-cherry and dried-flower character. Full-bodied and very layered with plush tannins and a delicious finish of fruit and touches of chocolate. Needs three or four years to come together. Try after 2023.

(90-93 points) Offering up aromas of ripe cherries, smoked meats, spices and licorice, the 2018 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a ripe, generous core of fruit framed by melting tannins, concluding with an expansive and floral finish. This derives from the same source as the Clos de Bèze—and informed readers will easily be able to make an educated guess as to who that is—but the Chapelle has turned out better this year.
