The scents and flavors here deliciously resemble that of cinnamon- and lemon-zest-tinged, lightly singed purple plum pastry. And as is often the case with Riesling from this site, there is also a high-toned suggestion of plum and poire distillate. The palate displays a striking combination of succulence with textural gloss and animating acidity, while a penetrating, cheek-tugging, mouth-shakingly invigorating finish incorporates delightful and unexpected cooling notes of wintergreen as well as delivering loads of stone and mouthwatering salinity. The 2016 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Spätlese has a very delicate slate and ripe yet fine Spätlese aroma. Lush, round and piquant on the palate, the 2016 reveals an exciting mineral freshness and attractive juiciness, with crisp and stimulating fruit notes. The finish is tight, fresh and grippy, indicating very good aging potential. I’d recommend cellaring this wine for at least another 10 years. Tasted March 2018.- SR

The ripe apple, clove and cinnamon notes makes this very appealing and the elegant balance of fruit and acidity is also spot on, making this an easy wine to drink right now. However, if you've got the patience, this will go for a couple of decades.

Elegant, with an enticing angel food cake texture to the ripe apple, peach and baked pear flavors. Very spicy, showing hints of cream and plenty of honey on the rich, alluring finish. Drink now through 2035. 20 cases imported. — KM
