Things have clearly switched up a notch with this wine, it’s become rich, deep and gorgeously mouth-filling. The nose is not as intense as the 2010 and the bilberry-blueberry character suggests fresh rather than overripe fruit, but it’s set against a silky, soft caress of tannins, which protects the integrity of the fruit. Matured in 45% new oak. (Drink between 2024-2040)

This is rich and still young on the nose, with density through the mid palate and a silky texture to the tannins, capturing the gourmet but finely balanced elegance that is so sought after in the Margaux appellation. Cocoa bean, black cherry, crushed mint on the finish giving a cooling blast. Great balance, a wine to look out for that I remember loving En Primeur and is delivering today. 50% new oak. They were working with a new cellar from this vintage, with an increase in small sized vats allowing better plot reactivity. Stephane Derenoncourt consultant.

This is a concentrated wine, packed with tannins and black plum fruits. It has some of the fruity crispness of the vintage although with its dark structure and concentration it is obviously a wine that needs to soften over time. Rich and juicy at the end, it will be ready to drink from 2024. ROGER VOSS

Boysenberry, espresso, black cherry and licorice scents kick off the nose. Medium bodied, with a touch of too much oak at the moment, this needs time to develop, and integrate. While this is already better in bottle than barrel, in time, this should be an even better wine, as it continues to come together. The 2014 Prieuré-Lichine was one of the turn up for the books, surpassing all previous showings. It has a classy bouquet with vibrant red fruit, damp loam, cedar and freshly rolled tobacco aromas. This is almost Saint-Julien in style. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that frame slightly herbaceous red fruit. It does not have immense depth or concentration, yet it comes across as harmonious and linear. A tingle of black pepper remains on the aftertaste. One of the pleasant surprises of the tasting.
