(91+) Like the 2014 Braune Kupp Kabinett, the regular Spätlese from this vineyard was more evolved and precise at the time of my visit than the more adolescent Scharzhofberger #4 Spätlese. The bouquet is pure, complex and really very pretty in its mélange of pear, apple, lime blossoms, refined slate notes, bee pollen, a touch of petrol and a nice dollop of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and silky on the attack, with very good mid-palate depth, ripe acids and a long, filigreed and wide open finish that closes with fine purity and grip. An utterly suave young Spätlese. (Drink between 2015-2035)
