91+ In contrast to the grumpy Vieilles Vignes bottling, the 2013 Clos Prieur from the Harmands was very much on form and showing lovely potential at the time of my visit. As reader will recall, this is a blend of a parcel in the premier cru section of the vineyard with a couple of very old vine parcels in the villages section, so the wine is officially a Gevrey AC bottling, but in 2013 is clearly of premier cru quality. The bouquet is a sappy and complex blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries, grilled meats, coffee bean, a lovely base of dark soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with lovely focus and grip, fine soil inflection and a long, suavely-tannic and complex finish. A beautiful bottle.
