(BH89-91 points) There is a touch of wood to the softly reduced nose where some spice elements are still discernable. There is good concentration to the velvety and lightly mineral-inflected medium weight flavors that brim with dry extract on the relatively austere and distinctly backward finish. I like the depth as well as the length and this should be lovely in time. Outstanding ♥

90+ The Méo-Camuzet Vosne AC hails primarily from vines in the lieu à dit of les Barreaux, which is one of the cooler sites in Vosne-Romanée. The 2012 version has turned out splendidly, offering up a deep and perfumed bouquet of red plums, cherries, raw cocoa, a fine base of minerally soil tones, a touch of new oak and a lovely topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is a bit more reserved than the Morey AC, with more mid-palate depth and a bit more structure in evidence. It is full-bodied and quite pure on the attack, with a tightly-knit personality, a fine core and a long, tangy and ripely-tannic finish. I imagine this wine will show a bit more early generosity as it bounces back more fully from the racking, and it will be a very, very lovely village wine with a few years in the cellar.

(WA88-90 points) The 2012 Vosne-Romanee Village comes from two parcels in “Les Barreaux” and “Aux Communes”, the former representing a good 70% of the blend. It is actually one of the last cuvees to be harvested as it is a cool site. It has a tightly wound, slightly laconic bouquet that takes some coaxing from the glass, eventually offering black rather than red tertiary fruit. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut red berry fruit with a crisp, chalky structure towards the finish. This will probably need two or three years in bottle to really unfurl. - Neal Martin
