This has a lovely balance of power and elegance, with twists of liquorice, coffee bean and bitter chocolate through the palate that accompany, but don't overwhelm, the plentiful black fruits. I like this very much - it dances with minerality, offers plenty to get stuck into and has plenty of life left. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

Here you find smoke, cherries, tobacco and earth. Medium bodied, fresh and with polished fruits in the finish, give this another 5 years to develop. This 125-acre vineyard is beautifully situated in the southern sector of the appellation of Margaux. Dense ruby/purple, with sweet cassis fruit, Du Tertre’s 2012 has a perfumed, elegant, lush, velvety-textured mouthfeel and impressive purity and depth. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.- RP

Intense nose of cassis and cherries with cedar notes. Full body, silky tannins, good acidity and a long, fruity finish. A little hard now but will open with bottle age. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot, 11% cabernet franc and 7% petit verdot. Drink from 2017.

The 2012 du Tertre has a well-defined nose: fully-mature with hoisin, dark plum and a light, ferrous edge, not powerful but focused. The palate is well balanced with saturated tannins, fine acidity, quite cohesive and poised with white pepper and clove lining the finish. This is a stylish Margaux for the vintage.
