Deep rich flavours, olive paste, cocoa bean, cassis, blackberry, evolving slowly and steadily, at a gorgeous moment to begin drinking, unlike many 2010s. These tannins feel fully integrated, which perhaps you don't expect in this vintage at classfiied growth level, but here you find gentle floral aromatics, sage, rose oil and fragrant black pepper. This full, fruity wine is packed with acidity as well as ripeness. It has a fresh black-currant character, and the structure underneath is strong. It will develop relatively quickly, but then could hold at its peak for many years.

50% cabernet sauvignon 35% merlot 9% cabernet franc and 6 % petit verdot. Aged in 50% new oak. From gravel (cabernet) and clay (merlot) Philippe Delfaut has crafted an excellent wine in 2010. This medium-bodied effort shows beautiful purity of strawberry raspberry and bright red cherry on the nose complemented by notes of espresso and crushed rose petal. Medium power but nice complexity here coupled with classic Margaux elegance. Fresh and precise. While this wine will take some time to strut its stuff patience will be rewarded. Tasted three times (once at the Chateau).

Tangy and elegant, with lilac, iron, red currant and cherry notes all mingling together and carrying through the focused finish. Not big, but pure, lengthy and showing fine minerality. Drink now through 2025. 9,166 cases made.–JM
