Somewhat like the white of the same vintage, this is a taut wine, but time in glass yields impressive, cool,blueberry fruit that tastes more youthful than its age. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the palate with vivid blackcurrant, graphite and tannic power. Give it another decade and it will gain in complexity and interest.

Tannic grip still very much in control, still with the sculpted quality that you find in the 2009 Chevalier. Cocoa bean, cassis, wet stone minerality, a sliver of joy hiding among the intense concentrated black fruits and liquorice root, I suggest giving it another three or four years to get the architecture to really relax. A brilliant way to see the difference in character between the two vintages. Harvest October 6 to 19. 33% new oak for ageing.

Clearly in its prime drinking window, the 2010 Domaine De Chevalier is gorgeous stuff, offering a complex mix of both red and black fruits, truffly earth, chocolate, and some meaty, bloody notes. Incredibly concentrated, it's medium to full-bodied, has ripe tannins, outstanding balance, and remarkable length. This absolutely classic Domaine de Chevalier will evolve gracefully over the coming 4-5 decades. Drink 2025-2065.

This is a great wine with its swathes of ripe fruit allied to a very structured character. It is concentrated with complex flavors that bring in wood, tropical fruits, apricots and a dense texture. Combined, these elements give the wine great style and aging potential. ROGER VOSS

63% cabernet sauvignon 30% merlot 7% petit verdot. It is aged for 18 months in 45% new barrels. From a 40 hectare section with 35-year-old vines planted to gravel with some clay. 100% hand harvested and the fruit is sorted three times. 13.5 % alcohol. Aromas of black fruit and violet fill the nose. On the round palate flavors of rich chocolate and blackberry jam flavors emerge leading to a finish filled with spice nice tannins and freshness. This has all the elegance and power that I love from Pessac-Leognan and it should age superbly for 20+ years. Domaine Chevalier has really knocked it out of the park with this one! Tasted three times the Domaine de Chevalier has great precision on the nose with pure dark blackberry dark plum black olive compote and crushed flowers. The palate is just superb mainly because of the crispness and tension in the tannic structure framing a very precise very focused Domaine de Chevalier that should age beautifully. It is almost understated but with great mineralité on the finish and superb persistency. Watch it blossom in bottle.

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Domaine de Chevalier charges out of the gate with bold expressions of cassis, warm blackberries and boysenberries plus touches of menthol, chocolate box and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is finely crafted with bags of freshness and a finely grained texture, finishing long and with impressive energy.- LPB

This wine pops with an exotic array of scents, spices, mint, smoke, earth, and ripe berries. Silky, soft and polished, the wine ends with a long, polished, refined display of kirsch and black raspberries. From a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, this has the structure to age and develop into something special for decades.

This has drive and intensity, displaying lots of steeped currant, anise and blackberry coulis notes pushed by tar and briar flavors. The ample finish sports roasted juniper and iron accents, with nicely inlaid acidity to drive it all home. Should unwind nicely in the cellar. Best from 2015 through 2030. – JM
