Loads of currant berry and light toasted oak on the nose with hints of milk chocolate. Full-bodied with velvety tannins and a medium-long finish. Thick texture. Nicely crafted and balanced. Best after 2011. 15000 cases made. (JS)

The deep ruby/purple-hued 2003 d’Armailhac exhibits notes of Asian plum sauce interwoven with creme de cassis licorice and roasted herbs. With moderately high yet sweet tannin an earthy character and chewy muscular deep fruit as well as medium to full body it should be drunk between 2008-2019.</P>

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2003 d’Armailhac is medium to deep garnet-brick in color. It swans out with gregarious notions of baked plums, boysenberry preserves, and blackcurrant jelly, giving way to hints of tobacco leaf, sauteed herbs, and rusty nails. The medium-bodied palate delivers chewy tannins and plenty of freshness to support the earthy flavors, finishing on a mineral note.
