Another great modern-day Chateau Canon on par with the 2005 even though it does not quite have the intensity on the nose. Yet it has more minerality with a touch of iodine and oyster shells. This seems to have more structure and acidity than the 2005, a slight tinny element that you find in young precocious wines that should disappear with age. Very good acidity and intensity with huge grip on the masculine finish. Less sumptuous and flamboyant than the 2005, but the structure suggests this could be a longer drinking proposition. This wine is superb. With its power and structure it will age over 20 years or more. Backed by blackcurrant and jelly flavors, it shows great fruity attractiveness even at this early stage in its development. It will develop slowly and evenly to become a reference point for the vintage.

A beautiful moment to be drinking this wine as it edges towards tertiary flavours. Beginning to soften around the edges now, with waves of brushed leather, walnut, dried roses and earth, together with the fresh acidities of its limestone soils. Supple tannins, finessed and fine, with juicy raspberry puree and blackberry fruits. 55% new oak, harvest September 23 to 30 (Drink between 2022-2032)

Begining to soften in colour around the edges, turning rose-pink and brick. On the aromatics you get brushed leather, walnut, dried roses and earth. Acidity higher than you find in most classified Left Banks at this stage, a feature of these limestone soils. Supple tannins, finessed and fine, masking at first the power that is still very much in play from the mid palate onwards. Gorgeously juicy raspberry puree and blackberry fruits intensify as it opens up and this is a wine to fully savour. Ready to drink now but no need to rush, it will stay on the plateau for another decade. 55% new oak. 34hl/h yield, 3.73ph, harvest September 23 to 30.

I love the chocolate and blackberry character, with hints of cedar. Nicely perfumes. Full and very creamy, with soft tannins and a long finish. The tannins compliment the creamy texture perfectly, wait two more years to pull the cork. 2012.
