The 1988 Doisy-Daene has a slightly muted nose coming after the 89, needing coaxing
from the glass, touches of petrol infusing the honeyed from but missing the same
degree of complexity. The palate is balanced but a little standoffish, fine depth with
good grip, marmalade and quince notes, but for me, a little abrupt and linear on the
finish. Drink soon. Tasted at the vertical at Doisy-Daëne.
