The story of this vertical series goes back to 1994 when Old Potrero was first founded by craft beer legend Fritz Maytag. The whiskey in this set was the first whiskey ever put into barrels at the Old Potrero Distillery. The first release in the series, the 11-year, was released in 2006, in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the devastating 1906 earthquake. Old Potrero followed suit by releasing a 12-year, 13-year, 14-year, 15-year, 17-year, and 18-year, all from the same batch of whiskey from 1994.

The iconic Old Potrero bottles that many remember are marked with Roman Numerals denoting the year they were first put into barrels and the year they were bottled.
