"Fernet Branca has been making fernets, or bitter digestivos, in Italy since 1845. The recipe is so closely guarded a secret that only the president of the company, a member of the Branca family, knows the exact proportions. What we do know is that the Brancas use some unusual and exotic herbs in the blend (sourced directly from their countries of origin), including myrrh, galangal (Thai ginger), camomile, cinnamon, saffron, iris, gentian, aloe and bitter orange.
